    Kids Judo with Mike Muender

    Kids Judo with Mike Muender

    Tuesdays at 5:00 PM
    $30/ Month

Provide structure for your child by adding Judo into their routine. Judo differs from many other martial arts because children must work with each other. In Judo your child will learn about cooperation and teamwork while making new friends. It teaches sportsmanship through fun and friendly competition.

Judo teaches children discipline by requiring them to always respect their instructor, teammates and training area. This code of conduct inevitably transfers to their home, school and friends.

We offer a safe, clean and nurturing environment. The children practice in a group setting, while the sensei assists each child with his or her individual needs, providing the guidance necessary for them to learn and grow within the discipline.

Mike Muender has taught Judo on the Eastern Shore since 2004. He founded the Eastern Shore Judo Tounament in 2018, and is the Sensei Eastern Shore Judo, a club affiliated with the American Traditional Jujutsu Association (ATJA). Sensei Muender is ranked Gordan (5th degree black belt ) by the ATJA and Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in JuJutsu by the ATJA.

Special guest instructors include Malika Eberhardt and Ashley Brock, coaches from majorette group Pink Pearls Dance Company (PPDC); Chloe Harper, Hip-Hop extraordinaire; and Niya Wilkins, former professional HBCU dancer. These instructors will educate students on basic dance fundamentals, while exploring all HBCU dance styles. The significance of this program is to promote awareness of HBCUs and heighten the interest of dance on the collegiate level.

    What is an HBCU?
According to the higher education act established in 1965, Historic Black Colleges and Universities are responsible for the acceleration of higher education opportunities for the African American community. The goal was to provide black youth, who were largely prevented, due to racial discrimination, from attending established colleges and universities, with a basic education and training to become teachers or tradesmen.

Limitless brings a taste of the HBCU culture with the goal to enhance their interest in dance encourage students to explore HBCUs as higher education options. For this one-day program, all middle school and high school participants are eligible to join regardless of their background. There is no need for dance experience. Limitless provides a safe space for students to get out of their comfort zone and become equipped with skills to utilize in their future.
